Crime Victims & Police Violence
A place to make your voice heard
An offence or act of violence can leave lasting physical and psychological effects. Alongside the personal impact, dealing with investigators and legal proceedings may cause anxiety and uncertainty. Mazar & Co. supports victims of sexual offences, assault and police violence, and represents them in compensation claims. Adv. Yosefy Mazar provides personal guidance and direct contact, listening carefully, protecting privacy and explaining the options clearly.
Beginning by listening
Everyone has their own way of coping with an injury and speaking about it. In the first conversation, you can describe events at a pace that suits you, ask questions and explore the way forward. We seek to understand what happened, the injured person’s condition, proceedings already underway and their present needs and concerns.
Representing victims of sexual offences
Sexual injury calls for particular sensitivity. Discussing events, gathering material and facing the legal process can be difficult. Adv. Mazar assists victims before the relevant authorities and represents them in compensation claims. We consider psychological injury and its effects on daily life, relationships and the ability to work and earn a living. Throughout the matter, we involve the injured person in decisions and explain their meaning.
Assault and violent incidents
An assault may cause serious and lasting harm even after the initial wounds heal. We represent victims of assault and violence, including cases involving significant disabilities. Our work includes establishing the circumstances, gathering evidence and assessing physical and psychological harm to build a supported compensation claim.
Police violence
Injury during an encounter with the police may cause helplessness and loss of trust alongside physical and psychological harm. Adv. Mazar has experience representing victims of police violence. Depending on the case, work includes reviewing events, assistance before the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash) and compensation proceedings. We pay particular attention to videos, photographs, witnesses, medical records and relevant correspondence.
Support through proceedings and the compensation claim
The matter may involve contact with investigators and prosecutors, assistance with victims’ rights in criminal proceedings and assessment of a civil claim. We review the stage of each proceeding and how the different processes relate, and explain the options suitable for the individual case.
The effects extend beyond the event
We examine how life has changed, including:
• Physical injuries and functional limitations.
• Psychological effects and treatment needs.
• Effects on employment and earning capacity.
• Daily assistance and support.
• Education, relationships and everyday life.
• Future treatment and rehabilitation.
What to prepare for the conversation
If available, gather medical records and treatment documentation; photos, videos and witness details; correspondence with the police, Mahash or prosecutors; decisions and records from earlier proceedings; and records of expenses and effects on work and daily life. You do not need to gather everything first. We will identify what exists and what may be needed later.
