Medical Negligence & Birth Injuries
Understand what happened. Explore the options. Plan for the future.
When medical treatment results in serious injury, the injured person and family may be left with many questions: what happened, could the injury have been prevented, and how can its consequences be addressed? Mazar & Co. handles medical negligence claims involving serious injuries, significant disabilities and loss of life, with particular attention to birth injuries. Adv. Yosefy Mazar provides personal guidance and direct contact from the initial investigation through the claim.
A thorough review of the treatment and injury
Assessment begins by listening to the injured person and family and collecting medical records. We establish what happened before, during and after treatment and what changed in the patient’s condition. We gather the information, review the sequence of events and consult appropriate medical experts to assess responsibility and harm. We explain what is known, which questions remain and what is needed to continue.
Pregnancy and birth injuries
A serious injury to a mother or baby can change the life of the whole family. Alongside treatment and concern for health, long-term arrangements may be needed for rehabilitation, assistance and daily life. We examine suspected failings in pregnancy monitoring, the management of childbirth or care of the mother and newborn. The review focuses on records, clinical decisions and a possible connection with the injury. We provide sensitive support and clear explanations, considering the child’s and family’s present and future needs.
Other circumstances we assess
• Suspected delay in diagnosing a disease or medical condition.
• Injury during or following surgery.
• Complications associated with anaesthesia.
• Suspected failings in emergency care or resuscitation.
• Injury associated with medication.
• Suspected failings in monitoring or follow-up treatment.
Each case is considered individually on its circumstances and medical records.
Building the claim with the future in mind
After serious injuries, particularly injuries to children, needs may continue for decades. We examine the impact on functioning and care throughout life, including medical treatment and rehabilitation; assistance, supervision and daily care; equipment and mobility; housing adaptations; reduced earning capacity; and the assistance provided by relatives and effects on their lives. The aim is a supported claim addressing needs beyond the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
Personal support for the family
Legal assessment may take place during treatment, uncertainty and emotional pressure. We adapt communication to the injured person and family, explain the stages and involve them in decisions about the case. Every client has personal, direct contact with Adv. Mazar throughout the matter.
How to get started
We first listen to what happened, the person’s condition and your questions. We then identify the records available and what else may be needed. If available, prepare:
• Hospital discharge summaries and medical consultation records.
• Tests, reports and imaging.
• Surgery, anaesthesia or treatment records relating to the injury.
• For birth injuries: pregnancy, delivery and maternal and newborn care records.
• Records of subsequent treatment and rehabilitation.
• Correspondence with the treatment providers.
You do not need to wait until every document is available before contacting us.
Questions from injured people and families
We cannot explain what went wrong. Can we contact you?
Yes. You do not need a medical or legal conclusion. We will listen to the sequence of events and explain what is needed to assess the case.
Can we enquire for a child or family member?
Yes. You can provide initial information. We will later clarify who is authorised to act for the injured person and what is required.
Some records are missing. Can we begin?
Yes. We review what is available and explain which further records are needed and how their collection can progress.
Can the case be reviewed while treatment and rehabilitation continue?
Yes. Assessment can begin during ongoing treatment, taking account of existing information and later developments.
